Why most contractors are stuck on referrals and bought leads
Most contractors I talk to are good at the work. The trouble is the phone. It rings when a past customer refers someone, or when a lead service sells you a name. You don't control either one.
- Shared leads. Bought contractor leads often go to 3–5 companies at once. You race to call first, then race to the lowest price.
- One generic “services” page. Google can't match a page that lists everything to a search for one job, so you don't show up for any of them.
- A Google profile working against you. The wrong primary category and only a few recent reviews keep you out of the map results.
- A site you can't use on a phone. If someone can't tap to call or book in a few seconds, they hit back and call the next company.
- Ads with no filters. Without negative keywords, your budget pays for DIY searches and people looking for jobs.
- No tracking. If calls and forms aren't tracked, you can't tell what a lead costs or which ad brought it in.
How I get contractors found on Google
Contractor SEO comes down to three things Google looks for: relevance, reach and trust. It's the same home service SEO method for a roofer as for a general contractor. I work on all three, in that order.
Relevance
Google has to know exactly what you do. I set the right primary category on your Google Business Profile, list every service on it separately, and build one page per service with the service and city in the title and H1.
Reach
Next, I write a service-area page for each town you work in. Each one is written for that town, not copied, and links back to the main service page.
Trust
Then trust. That means new reviews every month (recent ones count most), a reply to every review within 48 hours, the same name, address and phone number across directories, and links you earn. I never buy links.
The map results take the most clicks, so your Google profile comes first. Profile changes can show up within days. Website changes usually take a few weeks to show. That's local SEO for contractors, without the jargon.
Home service marketing that's built to convert
Getting found is half the job. The other half is turning a visit into a call. This is the digital marketing for contractors I set up for you:
- A website with a page per service, so every search lands on the page that matches it.
- A call button that stays on screen while people scroll on their phone.
- A booking calendar, so people can pick a time without calling.
- Google Ads on high-intent searches only. This is advertising for contractors aimed at people ready to hire, not people browsing for ideas.
- Call and form tracking, so you know what each lead costs.
- Review requests after every job.
- A monthly report in plain English: leads, cost per lead, and what I'm doing next.
Your own contractor leads vs. bought leads
Bought leads aren't a scam. They're fast, and sometimes fast is what you need. Here's the honest trade-off.
Bought leads
You pay per lead and get names right away. The same lead is often sold to several companies, you don't control the quality, and when you stop paying, the leads stop.
Your own leads
Leads from your own website, Google profile and ads go only to you. The reviews, pages and ad history stay in your accounts and keep working. It takes longer to build, but it's yours.
Plenty of contractors run both for a while, then cut back on bought leads as their own grow.

Our guarantees
- First-60-Days Lead Guarantee: at least your trade's number of qualified leads in your first 60 days of Google Ads — home & barndo builders and remodelers: 9 · painters: 10 · electricians: 10 · roofers: 7 — or next month's management is free — and if you're still short after that, we refund your first month's fee.
Requires at least $1,500/mo ad spend ($2,000/mo for roofing), answering leads within 1 business day, and approvals within 2 business days. Qualified lead = unique form or 60-sec+ call from your service area about a service you offer. Full terms
- No-Lock-In Promise: month-to-month, cancel with 30 days' notice, and you own your website, Google profile, ad account and data.
- We never guarantee rankings, sales or revenue — nobody honestly can.
How the Lead Guarantee works
Our First-60-Days Lead Guarantee. If your Google Ads don't produce at least your trade's number (builders and remodelers 9, painters 10, electricians 10, roofers 7) qualified leads in your first 60 days after launch, we'll manage your account free for the next month. If you still haven't reached that number by the end of that free month, we'll refund your first month's management fee. Conditions: you keep at least $1,500/month ($2,000 for roofing) in Google Ads spend running for the full 60 days; you answer or return leads within one business day; you approve ads and pages within 2 business days; and you don't pause campaigns or change the account without us. A qualified lead is a unique form or a 60-second+ call from your service area about a service you offer. Full terms in our Terms.
- One contractor per trade per market: while you're a client, I won't market a competing company in your trade in your area.

Contractor marketing questions
What does a contractor marketing agency actually do?
It gets you found on Google and turns that into calls. For me that means your Google Business Profile, a website with a page per service, SEO, Google Ads, call and form tracking, and review requests. I'm one person, not an agency with account reps, so you deal with me.
How much does contractor marketing cost?
Foundation is $2,000–$2,750/mo, Growth is $3,000–$3,750/mo, and Dominate is $4,500–$6,000/mo, depending on your market. Google Ads spend is separate and paid to Google from your own account. The setup fee is $1,000, $2,000 or $2,500, waived if you sign within 14 days of your call or audit.
How fast will I get leads?
Google Ads usually start getting clicks as soon as ads are approved (Google reviews most ads within one business day), and many accounts see their first leads in the first week or two — that's why every plan starts with ads. SEO and your Google Business Profile take longer, typically 4–6 months, and keep compounding after that. Our Lead Guarantee covers your first 60 days.
How long does SEO for contractors take?
Google profile changes can show up within days. Website changes usually take a few weeks to show, and SEO typically builds over 4–6 months. That's why every plan starts with Google Ads, so you're not waiting on SEO for calls.
Is local SEO for contractors different from regular SEO?
Yes. Local SEO is about the map results and searches that include a town. It leans on your Google Business Profile, your reviews and your service-area pages. Regular SEO is broader and slower. For most contractors, local SEO is where the calls come from.
Should I buy contractor leads or run my own ads?
Bought leads are fast, but they're often shared and they stop when you stop paying. Your own ads and SEO take more work up front, but the leads go only to you and the accounts stay yours. Many contractors run both for a while. On the call I'll give you an honest read on your numbers.
Do you do marketing for construction companies that do commercial work?
Yes. Commercial work needs its own pages and a different message for property managers, building owners and general contractors. I build that separately from your residential pages.
Do you work in my state?
Yes. I'm US-based and work remotely with contractors nationwide. I take one contractor per trade per market, so the first step is checking whether your area is open.
What does “one contractor per trade per market” mean?
While you're a client, I won't market another company in your trade in your area. We agree on the area before you sign.
Who owns the website and accounts?
You do. Your website, domain, Google Business Profile, Google Ads account and data stay in your name. I'm added as a manager. If you leave, you keep everything.
Is there a contract?
Month-to-month with 30 days' notice.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No, and nobody honestly can. We guarantee our First-60-Days Lead Guarantee — if your Google Ads don't produce at least your trade's number of qualified leads (builders and remodelers 9, painters 10, electricians 10, roofers 7) in your first 60 days, your next month of management is free, and if you're still short after that, we refund your first month's fee (conditions apply: minimum ad spend, answering leads, timely approvals — see Terms).
